The 2020 Census is active, and now is the time to respond!
By now you’ve probably received the Census’s paper invitation in the mail, in an envelope similar to the one below. The top line in the address window will read “TO RESIDENT AT” instead of your name, and this is intentional: the Census is conducted by household rather than by person. The return address will read “U.S. Census Bureau,” also visible in the photo.
The letter also contains your household’s Census ID, which you can use to respond online at my2020census.gov. It’s an easy and quick action to do from home, is completely free, and takes 10 minutes to complete!
You can check here for a list of questions that will be asked, and remember – your responses are private and protected by law, even from other government agencies. The personal information you provide can never be published or used against you.
YWCA St. Paul is committed to a full, fair, accurate and safe 2020 Census, because so much rides on its success. Numbers from the Census determine seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and billions in federal funding. To keep your community from losing out on crucial resources, please take a few minutes for civic engagement this week and respond to the 2020 Census.
