Girls Emerge, a YWCA St. Paul program that gives young women the opportunity to create community, affirm identity, explore careers, and promote social justice through a racial and gender equity lens, will be hosting a paid experiential learning opportunity for young women ages 15-24 to explore issues that are important to them that will lead to a community-based project.
Participants will work with YWCA St. Paul staff over 12 weeks to develop a service project centered on their lived experience.
The young women will engage in virtual workshops, interactive training and community services activities to learn about identity-driven leadership, advocacy, local policy and community building. The program includes group-based virtual engagement, individual work time and one-on-one mentoring with YW Youth Support Staff.
The program runs from December 28, 2020 – March 26, 2021. Participants commit to five hours per week and receive $12 per hour.
This opportunity is open to young women ages 15-24 who are residents of Ramsey County, have access to technology for virtual training and can commit to five hours a week. If you want to participate but do not have access to technology (i.e. tablet, laptop or Wi-Fi), please contact us.
Please contact Kateri Deshaw, Youth Support Specialist, by December 16 if interested in applying.
Funding for this program is partially provided by Workforce Solutions, a department of Ramsey County, a proud partner of CareerForce.
