Opportunities

YWCA St Paul is looking for a dedicated passionate and dependable leader to provide management and support to employment services programming including the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) Ramsey County contract and MN Department of Employment & Economic Development (DEED) Adult Services contract. You will work with the Director of Programs, funders and other stakeholders to ensure program goals, outcomes, compliance, and measurements are achieved. Representing YWCA St Paul in the community promoting the YW Works program and YWCA mission. This role is based in St Paul, Minnesota, with a hybrid office environment.

This role spends 50% of their time in leadership and administration:

  • Supervising Employment and Economic Development staff (YW Works and Career Services)
  • Direct supervision of Case Managers, Data Specialist, Career Navigator and MFIP Extension Coordinator
  • Leading supervision & professional development, attending team, leadership and staff meetings/training
  • Creating a culture of trust with transparent communication and continuous improvement
  • Leading consultation with staff on caseload assignments
  • Leading, planning and facilitating African American Culturally Specific employment/career services programming
  • Ensuring programming is holistic and uses best practices
  • Helping to design and implement systems and tools to assist while promoting accountability at the team and individual level
  • Developing, updating and uploading onboarding, training, and internal process documentation to support the team
  • Maintaining and updating SharePoint program site

40% of their time in Program Management:

  • Managing the YWCA contract with Ramsey County and DEED to provide MFIP Employment Services and Career Services
  • Working with the Database Specialist and the Program Department to ensure internal database (Workforce 1) is used and aligned with programming outcomes
  • Reviewing program data at least monthly to improve program outcomes ensuring goals, outcomes and measurements are met
  • Coordinating partnerships with other Workforce Solutions MFIP providers
  • Leading programming to advance employment access and advancement. Engaging participants to advance adult education and career goals while helping with basic support services
  • Collaborating with Transitional Housing Program Manager to implement the Housing Stability Initiative (HSI) Grant

10% of their time-YWCA Agency

  • Representing YWCA St Paul in the community to promote the employment services programming and YWCA Mission throughout committee work with those that advance best practices and economic development and/or required working groups/trainings by Ramsey County
  • Promoting YWCA guiding principles, equity statement, facilitating staff meetings and contributing to agency communications

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, or related field or three years or more experience in business and/or program management and development-or the equivalent in work experience
  • Proven record of accomplishment of growth and success in meeting outcome goals
  • Commitment and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Experience in managing/supervising in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in time management and meeting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to manage conflict constructively and holistically
  • Basic ability in Office 365 Microsoft Suite with the ability to maintain confidentiality

YWCA St. Paul offers a competitive benefits package and compensation is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The hiring range for this position is $58,000 -$62,000 annually. Covid vaccination is needed.

YWCA St Paul is in search of a Senior Proposal Writer. Our Senior Proposal Writer is responsible for identifying, pursuing, cultivating, and enhancing relationships with corporate, foundation, and government funders in support of YWCA St Paul’s four program pillars. This position manages overall grant efforts, including researching and identifying funding opportunities, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with corporate, foundation, and government funders, writing and submitting grant proposals, and reports, and monitoring grant compliance and evaluation. In partnership with the Director of Advancement, the Senior Proposal Writer implements a comprehensive grants funding plan that supports and aligns with YWCA St Paul’s goals and strategic plan. The Senior Proposal Writer is a key member of the Advancement team, reporting to the Director of Advancement, enhancing the organization’s grant efforts. The individual must proactively work to maintain and expand the current grants portfolio.

Proposal Writing

  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding opportunities, and to prepare, submit, and manage proposals to corporations, foundations, government agencies, and other grant-making organizations.
  • Research prospects, conduct review to determine feasibility, ensuring alignment between grant opportunities and organizational goals.
  • Expand current portfolio of grants securing additional funding, both restricted and unrestricted, partnering with Senior Leadership Team and program staff, determining needs, and identifying fundable projects.
  • Work closely with program and finance departments gathering information and data for proposals.
  • Identify and incorporate compelling research, data, and organizational impact to support funding requests.
  • Ensure grant proposals and supporting documentation are properly submitted.
  • Author reports to government, corporations, foundations, and other funders.
  • Track and maintain grant activity using Raiser’s Edge.
  • Ensure recognition and stewardship of the funder, in collaboration with members of Advancement team.

Manage awarded grants and contracts

  • Monitor and support compliance with grant requirements including support to evaluation processes.
  • Maintain grant records and secure all funding documents in shareable, accessible, and secure formats, managing and tracking grant requirements, activities, and compliance reporting requirements.

 

Collaboration and Compliance

Work with Director of Advancement on a grants funding plan that supports YWCA St Paul’s goals and budget requirements and assists with the executions of the development department ‘s strategy.

Maintain proficient knowledge of YWCA St Paul’s programs and history.

Participate in supporting the preparation of applications for certifications and coordinate the agency’s response to the YWCA USA assessment process.

Assist with fundraising projects and other related duties as assigned.

 

YWCA Agency

  • Represent YWCA St Paul in the community, including networking and representation on working groups related to programs.
  • Promote YWCA St Paul’s guiding principles, equity statement also facilitating staff meetings and agency communications, aligning with YWCA St Paul’s mission, and bringing a new level of creativity and innovation.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of non-profit proposal writing and stewardship experience.
  • Alignment with YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
  • Skilled in proactive action, independent thinking and problem solving with a demonstrated initiative in meeting aggressive fundraising goals.
  • Strong collaborator and effective communicator who can manage complexity, build networks, be resilient, drive results, think strategically, and instill trust in others.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities and complete projects successfully as planned.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse constituents, both internally and externally.
  • Strong computer skills (competent using Microsoft 365, performing internet research), including experience and proficiency with databases and office productivity software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Raiser’s Edge experience.

This position is a full-time exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), working most of the time in the office in St Paul, Minnesota, with remote work being a consideration. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM with limited weekend and evening hours as needed. The salary range is $60,000-$65,000 annually, based on experience.

Have you been on a swim team…. taught swim lessons…. come teach swim lessons with us and make a difference in our community.  We are looking for swim instructors with experience to teach lessons on weekends, with more opportunities in the summer.  Swim Instructors will work a variety of shifts teaching private and group swim lessons.  Swim Instructors are responsible for providing swimming instruction to all ages, following YWCA St Paul swim lesson guidelines.  Providing excellent customer service, while promoting member safety and satisfaction, ensuring an enjoyable experience.

In this position you will:

  • Instruct individual and group swim lessons at all levels (parent-tot to adult), with the ability to demonstrate skills
  • Regularly communicate with parent/guardian regarding progress updates
  • Evaluate students and recommend placement for future class
  • Know and understand all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately
  • Understand and communicate policies and guidelines for the pool and whirlpool
  • Administer first aid as needed
  • Completed all required administrative work

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 15 with the ability to teach groups up to 9 students
  • Experience teaching swimming lessons/certification
  • Flexibility in combining multiple ages, levels, and abilities, as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and remedy unsafe situations and swimmers needing assistance

  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas within the facility at all times.
  • Respond to questions and proactively provide information on YWCA programs and services.
  • Help members access their account and process sales transactions online.
  • Customize the buying experience for prospective members in online new membership purchases.
  • Initiate, develop, and grow relationships with new and current members, encouraging usage of all offerings of the facility.
  • The successful candidate will have:
  • High school diploma/GED/working toward diploma.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in customer service/sales.

YWCA St. Paul is currently searching for the next Piranhas Head Swim Team Coach. The Piranhas Swim Team is our youth swim team for ages 8-18. Practices are able to be scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 3:00 PM and 8:30 PM. This role comes with the possibility of additional weekend coaching hours during the competitive season for swim meets. Must be at least 18 years old.

Pay is starting at $16.00 per hour and is based on experience.

The Piranhas Head Swim Team Coach will demonstrate exceptional coaching, communication, and guidance to swim team members. This role will help swimmers learn, develop, practice, and execute the different competitive swimming strokes.

In this role you will:

  • Design swim workouts appropriate for various ages and/or training groups of the swimmers. Teach and correct stroke mechanics and fundamentals both in the water and on Provide proper instruction on strokes, racing starts, turns, and finishes
  • Advise, communicate, and decide events swimmers should compete in at swim competitions along with motivate and encourage swimmers to perform at their highest levels
  • Maintain safety as a priority at all times
  • Initiate, develop, and grow relationships with new and current swim team members and their families
  • Respond to questions and proactively provide information on YWCA programs and services
  • Responsible to recruit and retain a baseline number of swimmers on the team
  • Responsible for yearly fundraiser for Piranhas swim

The successful candidate will have:

  • High school diploma/GED/working toward
  • Minimum of 2 years swim team coaching
